Hi, I’m Rebecca, a death and grief worker living in the tranquil Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. My life’s work has been about walking the sacred edges of innovation while tending to the thresholds of change and loss. I am deeply committed to honoring life's transitions and nurturing conditions for both personal and communal healing.
To me death and grief work are about cultivating our capacity to be in these thresholds of change and loss, especially when things feel unbearable. It’s about finding where we have agency, leaning into that, and supporting one another through it. It’s about building our ability to be with discomfort, fear, and pain, while also reimagining what lives at the edges of possibility. And to quote Mara June, "it’s about carrying the capacity for softness alongside our capacity for fierceness."
As the founder of The Grievery, I advocate for a communal approach to grief tending, seeing it as a powerful pathway to belonging, wholeness, and deep healing. The Grievery is an invitation for us to practice together – a space where we can be touched by and speak about our grief, even and especially if we don't know how.
In reimagining what lives at the edges of possibility, I dream of new forms of end-of-life care – spaces where we come together to honor life and our transitions to the fullest. My dreams are rooted in creating community care circles that integrate social justice and deathcare, encouraging deep reflection on the intrinsic values that bind us as human beings.
I believe that death and grief care must be a sanctuary, fostering genuine relationships and a circle of care where the structural inequities and harms in our current systems are actively examined, unlearned, and repaired. Together, we can create environments where the soul has space to breathe, grieve, and find solace – welcoming, restorative spaces for all beings.
